whats that last one for GPS do?
Enable the GPS com port options for 3rd party GPS receivers.  So you can tell your phone you want the receiver to communicate on X-port rather than whatever your PDA assigns it to.  Helpful when your software doesnt want to talk to your receiver.

This hack does not stay in place after soft reset.. I use alltel...

With any and every registry hack you do understand you do them all at your own risk. I, as well as PPC-Central and it's staff, assume absolutely NO responsiblity to what happens to your phone. As always BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP!!!

Here is a real quick and cool one.

It is a registry hack to change the "Sprint PCS" on the phone screen(when you make a call). Open up your Reg Editor. I recommend using the PHM Registry Editor For Pocket PC since it is freeware.

Go to the following menu once you have the reg editor open.

(HKLM stands for HKey Local Machine)

HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name

Then change it to whatever you want. I have "Bob's Phone" on mine. I would suggest not putting that on your phone- well unless you really want to.

Nope, that one gets overwritten as the phone picks up the service name from the system.

As I'm sure some of you are already aware, you can also download my PPC-6700 Hacks program to do most of these hacks for you. I've also include a link at the bottom of the page with a list of all the hacks i've used, for those of you who'd rather change them yourselves.

It will be very nice indeed when PHM regedit has the capability to import .reg files.  Just enter in your hacks as usual & export the entire registry or copy & paste them to a .txt file & rename it .reg.  After a hard reset open PHM, click on import and voila!

From what I can tell you can export & import the entire registry but you cannot import a .reg file.  At least on mine the "Import" option is grayed out.

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST

To change the softkeys on the Today screen:

The left-hand softkey settings are at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2

The right-hand softkey settings are at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3

(You will have to create a new one for the right key. It is not on there already.)

The 'Default' string value can be changed to whatever text you wish to have displayed.

The 'Open' string value can be changed to the program you wish to run when the softkey is pressed.

For example, to change the left-hand softkey to start the Messaging program (text messages and emails) you would set:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\(Default) = Messaging

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2\Open = \windows\tmail.exe

I personally like this one and use it on my phone.

Thanks for this one!!!!
